AOL Broadband is part of the Carphone Warehouse empire after acquiring AOL's UK ISP business in October 2006 for a whopping £370 million. Although there were many people who were surprised at the idea of paying such a high price for a business that seemed in trouble, Carphone Warehouse has managed to turn the business around and given them critical mass in an extremely competitive market.

We have seen some innovative marketing gimmicks from Carphone Warehouse as they attempt to squeeze as much as possible out of the old AOL service, and the 2 million UK customers which came with it. Free laptops, free Xbox consoles have been offered to new customers who sign up.
